Nice

Nice, in the Cote d'Azure region, is the fifth largest city in France, famous for tourism but also as a centre of industry, science and technology. Served by Nice International Airport, the elegant city is renowned for its magnificent architecture and historic sights such as Lazaret, Terra Amata, The Opera, Prefecture Palace and the Russian Orthodox church.

The people of Nice, the 'Nicoisi', even have their own language, 'Nisserti', and enjoy a reputation for producing exquisite cuisine. The famous Promenade des Anglais is packed with cafes and restaurants, and the Baie des Anges is surrounded by beaches and luxury hotels.

The park of Chamburn and Espace Massena offer ideal opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and floral displays. There are many museums, such as the Museum of Modern Art and the History Museum, for those seeking a cultural experience and the Nice Jazz Festival is held annually in the summer.

On the Cours Soleya you can buy flowers and fruit and vegetables, including the black Caillettes olives for which Nice is famous and which feature so much in Nicoisi cuisine.

At night you can go to the theatre, opera or pick from the many restaurants and nightclubs on offer, and during the day you can enjoy the sun and the sea, visit the various shops and boutiques or take it easy in one of the terrace cafés.
